Australian Writers Love To Look Back For Miles

WRITERS often say that literary prizes are a lottery but one thing is certain about this year's Miles Franklin award: it will go to a book that can be described loosely as a historical novel. The shortlist for Australia's most significant literary prize, worth $42,000 to the winner, was announced yesterday.
